Founded in 2008, Hot Bread Kitchen harnesses the power and possibility of New York City’s vibrant food industry to advance economic mobility and create lasting opportunity.

Hot Bread Kitchen helps New Yorkers who face barriers to meaningful careers build the skills, connections, and resources to thrive. Its workforce programs combine entry-level training, upskilling, job placement, and individualized support to help members launch careers, move into leadership, and increase their earning potential. Through its Hot Bread Kitchen Incubates (HBKi) program, the organization also supports food entrepreneurs from early-stage development through growth and access to capital.

Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and fast-paced, Hot Bread Kitchen has significantly expanded its reach and partnerships in recent years. In 2025, the organization received 7,000 program applications and enrolled 705 individuals, while working with nearly 400 food-industry employers and more than 250 nonprofit and government partners. Now in the final phase of its three-year strategic plan, Hot Bread Kitchen is preparing for its next chapter of growth, including launching new programs and a second training kitchen in 2027. The organization will also develop its next strategic plan in 2027, setting the direction for its continued growth and impact.
