Overview:
The Part-Time Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in managing the financial activities of Sokana Collective. This position involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting budgetary controls. The ideal candidate will have experience in non-profit bookkeeping, attention to detail, and a commitment to the organization's mission.
Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online.
Record and categorize financial transactions, including income and expenses. Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
Budget Support:
Assist in the development of the annual budget in collaboration with the Agency Directors.
Monitor budgetary performance and report any variances.
Provide financial data and analysis to support decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely manner.
Track and manage accounts payable and receivable.
Work with vendors and clients to resolve billing and payment issues.
Financial Reporting:
Generate regular financial reports for review by the Program Directors and the Board.
Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements for non-profit organizations.
Payment Processing:
Process payments for agency staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Process financial onboarding paperwork for contract positions, including collecting W9s and sending 1099s during tax time.
Maintain payout records and address any pay-related inquiries.
Audit and Compliance:
Support the preparation for annual audits and financial reviews.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and non-profit financial regulations. Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls.
Grant Tracking:
Collaborate with program managers to track expenses related to grant-funded projects.
Prepare financial reports for grant proposals and grant management, and donor reporting.
Qualifications:
Experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably in a non-profit setting.
Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of non-profit financial regulations and compliance. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
