Description

Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by Westminster Canterbury - Lynchburg to conduct an executive search for a Chief Financial Officer.
Westminster Canterbury – Lynchburg (WCL) is a faith-based, not-for-profit Life Plan Community located on a beautiful 52-acre campus in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1980 through the sponsorship of the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, the community is guided by a mission focused on dignity, compassion, wellness, and lifelong care, while emphasizing an engaging and resident-centered lifestyle. WCL offers a full continuum of senior living and healthcare services, including independent living apartments and cottages, assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and outpatient therapy.
WCL is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive leadership for the organization’s financial operations and ensure long-term fiscal sustainability. Reporting to the President/CEO, the CFO will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and strategic partner with the President/CEO, Board of Trustees and Foundation Directors. The CFO is responsible for financial planning, accounting, investments and treasury management and will ensure sound stewardship of resources while supporting WCL’s continuing care contracts and long-term obligations to residents.
The successful candidate for this position will have 8-10 years of progressive financial leadership experience with demonstrated experience in a not-for-profit CCRC, senior living, healthcare system, or similarly regulated environment strongly preferred. Experience with entrance fee accounting, actuarial coordination, refund liability management, and bond financing is highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a CPA, MBA or similar advanced credential is also strongly preferred. The CFO will be visible on campus and has a deep understanding and a strong passion for residents, staff and community, and proven ability to work effectively with Boards of Trustees and Finance/Investment committees.
This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for a financial executive who wants to lead a forward-looking community of sophisticated residents and to continue to build upon WCL’s outstanding reputation and long history of financial integrity.
